How Low Should Pendant Lights Hang?
For use as task lighting hang your pendant 75-90cm (30-36inches) above your worktop or kitchen island. This provides enough clearance to give clear visibility for task lighting when cooking or preparing food.
For use as general lighting in kitchens with higher ceilings, pendant lights can be adjusted to give at least 2m clearance from the floor to the bottom of the fitting, providing enough headroom for people walking beneath them.
Always take your kitchen furniture into account. Avoid positioning too close to high-level cupboards or appliances, as this may interfere with doors when they open.
