Bedside Lamps

All you need to do is choose the right ones for your bedroom and plug them in- Sweet dreams.  Many bedroom lamps are sold in pairs for each side of a bed as a matching set, however just because they are sold in pairs doesn’t mean they are just for the bedroom. Many of the products in this section can look just as stunning in any room.

As with many items of home décor, tastes have changed over the years. Pastel colours for the bedroom are still a firm favourite, but we have seen the introduction of bold solid colours for bedside lighting, such as black and red that adds a degree of contrast that makes a bold statement wherever they are used.

Here is a handy tip to help you choose the correct sized lamp. It may sound silly but sit on or lie in the bed and take up your normal reading position. With a tape measure, find the height above your bedside table that best suits your position. Some people may read in bed in an upright position that will require a taller base, whilst others may read in a more relaxed position lying down, in which case the base height will not be an issue.

Don’t be put off by height, browsing through a magazine, I spotted a photograph of a pair of very tall bedside lamps that looked spectacular, dominating the theme of the bedroom and contrasting well with the bedspread. Tall lamps will give a wider spread of light whether sitting or lying down.

Whilst the selection of lamps to use at the side of your bed is mainly decorative and fashionable, it is also worth considering using a desk lamp on a bedroom table. These are particularly useful if you do a lot of reading as they can be adjusted to angle the light just where you need it.
