Large Table Lamps

Large table lamps are perfect for those of us fortunate enough to have good-sized rooms or hallways. They can be a feature or used to light a large alcove or at the side of a chimney breast. They are great for reading as they sit taller and have a wider spread of light.

If you have a large table in your living or dining room, then a smaller lamp will look out of proportion, whereas a large table lamp will fit the bill perfectly and complement its surroundings. It will add height and create an impact wherever it is used.

Consider placing a large table lamp at the end of a hallway to draw the eye towards the far wall to create an air of grandeur.

Size Matters

Whilst a large table lamp is an excellent proposition, it’s important that the proportion is maintained. A very large lamp on a small table can look out of place and disrupt the room’s aesthetics. As a general rule, the height of the lamp should not exceed 1.5 times the height of the table and be no wider than its diameter.
