Questions and Answers

Question from Alison Beckett

Q:

Hi – how do I adjust the amount of time the light stays on for? Either there wasn’t a manual in the box or it has gone missing! Thanks

A:

Pulling down the “eyelid” cover on the PIR will expose the controls. The adjustments are made as follows:

The PIR sensor can be adjusted, allowing the detection distance to be altered to suit the location. The detection angle is set at 110º. The duration that lamp stays on can also be altered from 5 seconds – 5 minutes. The LUX range is 10-2000 lux. Use a small screwdriver to adjust the “TIME” and “SENS” screws. When adjusting the sensitivity (detection distance) in daylight it will be necessary to cover the sensor to simulate night time.

Question from Gill

Q:

Please could you clarify a few points for me? 1) Is this light bright enough to see your way along a path? 2) The switch in the house for this light is currently a dimmer switch, is this ok? 3) Can the light be set so our cat doesn’t trigger it at night? 4) Could you confirm that it is mounted flat against the wall ? 4) Regarding question 1), do we have a choice of bulbs for this light, if so which?

A:

This light would not be a suitable light fitting to light up your path in full however it would light up the immediate area below the fitting. This fitting does not allow for the light to be manoeuvred into an angle for illumination over an area.

I would advise that the use of a dimmer switch would not be suitable and a simple on and off switch would be better suited for this fitting.

The sensitivity of the fitting can be tuned down however there is no guarantee that your cat would not activate the light if it was in sensor mode. (The installation instructions also go into detail regarding PIR adjustment.)

I can confirm that the fittings backplate would sit flush with your wall.

The GU10 bulbs that can be used in this fitting come in warm white (yellowish colour) Daylight (Neutral White) and Cool white (White with blue hint).

Question from Graham Soar

Q:

How does the manual override work?

A:

By switching the power to the unit on and off three times within 3 seconds, the unit will switch to manual override mode enabling you to keep the light switched on permanently. Repeat the process to revert to sensor mode.

Question from Callum

Q:

What’s the minimum range of the sensor??

A:

This sensor can be reduced down to 4m as a minimum detection range when mounted at the optimum height of 2.4m. There is a dial marked “sensitivity” which is turned to adjust this setting.
