Garden wall lights are one of the first additions to most homes when installing outdoor lighting. They can be used just to create an effect or use a sensor wall light to warn off a potential intruder to your property.
Today there is such a vast variety of choice of modern outdoor wall lights that sometimes we feel spoilt for choice or confused as to which style will be the best.
Whatever you choose it will look fantastic on any newly designed home or a home with a more contemporary style. They can also look just as well on an older property and not just on modern homes. Sometimes many of us have had some modern alterations made to our homes such as patio doors or an outside deck area, making a modern garden wall light the right choice no matter what the style of home.
They are available in a vast choice of shape, size and finishes, all of which look great, but what type of light will they create? This is the biggest difference between traditional and modern designs. Traditional style outdoor wall lights, in general will give an overall lighting effect, whilst modern designs vary greatly and this should be considered before making your final choice. Here are just a few key factors when choosing the style of your modern outdoor wall light.
When making your choice, look at the style of it and where the bulb is positioned to create the light. Many of them are directional, with the light either shining upwards, downwards or both. This can create a wonderful wash of light over the wall surface. If you choose a GU10 lamp fitting, then coloured LED lamps may be used. These are both energy efficient and attractive as you can choose any colour light that you like and change it whenever you wish.
If you choose a modern outdoor light for ambient lighting, then you should consider a wall light with an eyelid fitted. These will direct the light downwards and directly to the front giving a lovely ambient glow to the surrounding area.
Finally, with all of the styles available today, the different types of finishes and the light created by each style, the only thing holding you back is your own imagination.
