Table lamps can give any room an instant illusion of space. By simply choosing the right type and size you can create dramatic changes to the way your room looks.
If you have a small room that you wish would look longer, choosing the correct style of table lamp can achieve the illusion of a longer room. Candlestick or column table lamps are usually tall and slender by design and will give you the illusion of height and space. Positioned on either side of a wall at the end of the room, they will create the illusion of depth, making the room look much longer.
Narrow rooms can use the taller column or candlestick table lamps, however the positioning of these should be diagonally opposite each other if possible to create the illusion of widening your room.
Believe it or not, you can make a room appear much higher by the use of shorter table lamps. By created the appearance of space between the ceiling and lower levels, you will create an illusion of height.
For larger rooms table lamps can create similar effects. For large ceilings tall table lamps will bring the level of ceiling height down and create a cosier feel. To bring the room closer together a wider diameter base can create an effect of drawing walls closer together. There are many designs that fit the criteria perfectly to help you achieve this.
Positioning table lamps at different height levels will add to the feeling of space and add interest to your room. Once you have your new purchase you can experiment with the positioning until you get the feel you are looking for.
