Non-Corrosive Fluorescent Lighting
Non-corrosive fluorescent fittings or non-corrosive pod packs are designed to be used in the harshest environments.
We only supply high quality; high frequency non-corrosive fittings for flicker free, near silent, reliable, fast start operation. Available in both 240v and 110v, in emergency and non-emergency versions. All of our 3-hour emergency versions contain the battery pack and inverter within the body of the fitting to maintain its integrity and IP rating.
They are IP65 rated, which means that they are weatherproof and can even be used outdoors. They are completely sealed and are protected from jets of water from any direction making them completely safe to use in the harshest of environments. Ambient temperature operating range -15 to +35°C.
A standard surface mounted fluorescent batten is normally made from pressed steel and is well ventilated so would rust very quickly in a high humidity application. In addition, steam or suspended moisture would enter the light fitting making it dangerous under certain circumstances.
Non-corrosive fittings are usually made from polycarbonate, ABS plastic or even stainless steel. They are not ventilated and are installed by suspending them by clips or straps so that the body remains intact. There will always be a gasket between the clip on diffuser and the main body. This is sometimes separate but often it is a poured seal and will be integral with the diffuser. In any event, it must always be sealed.
Great care must be taken when fitting a non-corrosive fluorescent fitting to maintain its integrity. Cable entry and exit points must be through a compression gland or similar watertight adaptor. Never drill through the body to fix the batten to the ceiling, always use the supplied external clips or straps.
