Bathroom wall lights are often overlooked but perform an important role in the overall lighting scheme by helping to eliminate shadows in important areas. Used around or over a bathroom mirror, a wall or bathroom mirror light will eliminate shadows on the face when applying make up or shaving. Bathroom wall spotlights can be very useful as they are directional so can be pointed exactly where you need the extra light.
There are a few things that you need to consider when fitting spotlights in a bathroom. Please remember that spotlight bulbs get very hot in use, so it is very important that they are fitted where they cannot be touched by anyone. This is particularly important where young children are concerned. The consequences of someone touching a very hot lamp with wet hands could be quite severe. Always install bathroom wall spotlights in a position where they cannot be easily reached and away from any risk of them being splashed with water.
In an ideal word we would have a bare bathroom to work with, but this is rarely the case.
If your bathroom is part tiled then recessing the wall light wiring will not be a problem, but what can you do if the bathroom walls are fully tiled? Consider mounting a mirror at face level of a size that will extend to within 150mm or so from the ceiling. The wiring can then be taken down from the roof space and surface mounted. This method is particularly effective when using a bathroom over mirror light and enables the wiring to be hidden behind the mirror if you wanted to fit wall lights either side.
