Why do I need an illuminated bathroom mirror or cabinet?
The short answer is you don’t need one, but it will make performing certain tasks much easier and pleasurable. Once you have used a bathroom mirror with lights built in for shaving, applying make up and general everyday use, you will wonder why you didn’t get one sooner.
In addition, they can give a lovely background light whilst you are having a relaxing bath. They are also easy to add to an existing bathroom. It’s not as easy as just choosing the mirror or cabinet that you like the look of as there are many other factors to consider.
A normal mirror is a piece of flat glass with a silvered back. It is this silvering that causes the reflection when you look in the mirror. Illuminated bathroom mirrors have some of the silvering removed so that the light can shine through directly at your face. This avoids the shadows that can sometimes be caused when using ceiling mounted fittings alone.
The next consideration is the type of light the mirror gives off.
