Bathroom Ceiling Lighting
Ceiling lights are the most widely used form of bathroom lights. A bathroom ceiling light should provide bright targeted light to illuminate the whole bathroom. Consider using more than one bathroom light to give light where you need it and avoid shadows. Consider combining it with a bathroom wall light or illuminated bathroom mirror.
Years ago, a bathroom would consist of an iron or steel bath, a porcelain sink and a toilet, and the walls would be painted in an eggshell finish to try and protect the walls from steam. Bathroom lighting would probably be a batten lamp holder on the ceiling or wall with a 100 watt light bulb poking out.
Thankfully, those days are long gone and our bathrooms are now a relaxing and functional place to be. Bathroom ceiling lighting play a very important part in your overall bathroom lighting scheme and should be chosen with care.
The bathroom is one of the first rooms we visit in the morning and one of the last at night. Surely it should be a welcoming place? A good choice of bathroom light fittings can make all of the difference between the bathroom just being somewhere to wash and bathe and somewhere to relax and unwind.
Bathroom ceiling lights are probably the single most important bathroom light fitting so great care should be taken when choosing them. A domed flush fitting ceiling light will give a good overall spread of light whilst a bathroom spotlight fitting can give targeted light where you need it. Suitably IP rated recessed downlights are popular and well suited to a modern bathroom. Care should be taken to ensure that they are positioned to give the best light possible. For example, above a shower or directly in front of a mirror or cabinet.
All of our bathroom ceiling lights are rated at least IP44 or higher, so they are suitable for use in bathroom zones 1, 2 and 3. If you require any further information or advice on any aspect of bathroom lighting, please contact us.
