Our online catalogue is updated daily to bring you the latest in lighting design. The site is easy to navigate with separate sections for each type of lighting product. Within each section we have created sub categories that contain each specific lighting type.
We operate a fair pricing policy and monitor our prices regularly. Customers will find our prices extremely competitive and we never overprice our goods in cases of shortages or high demand.
City Link and Royal Mail are our delivery partners. We pass on delivery charges at or less than cost to our customers, so our delivery prices are extremely competitive. All products are packed professionally before despatch. You can order over the phone or online. We accept all major credit cards, through Worldpay or customers can use PayPal or Google Checkout.
Universal Lighting provides full terms and conditions to protect customers and operate a comprehensive refunds policy. You do not need to create an account and we do not retain or sell customer information. We never forget that our customers are people so we do not use automated Emails or reply systems. All notifications or Email replies are tailored to the individual. Ordering from us is easy, secure and safe.

Who We Are
Universal Lighting Services Ltd was established in 1970 by David Foster, who is an electrical engineer and has been in the lighting and electrical field for over 50 years. The business originally focused on commercial lighting from our large warehouse in Priory Street. A short time later, David opened a decorative lighting shop in Birkenhead that was staffed and run by his daughters. Some years later, the warehouse frontage was converted into a public showroom where it remains to this day.
David is now 78 years old and is retiring this year. Universal Lighting Services Ltd continues to be a family run business with his daughter Jan and her partner taking over and are set to continue the family tradition for the next 40 years.
What we do
Since those early days, Universal Lighting Services Ltd has built an enviable reputation within the lighting industry. We supply every light fitting available in the UK and Europe to the public. We supply every commercial light fitting available in the UK and Europe to specifiers, the building industry, factories and offices. In addition, we supply decorative lighting to some hundred or so lighting and electrical suppliers throughout the UK.
We specialise in all aspects of home lighting, including decorative, garden, commercial, energy saving and LED lighting, together with their associated products. We are up to date with all aspects of lighting and in particular the energy saving and low energy options available to you today and those that will become available in the near future.
In 2002 we started to supply lighting products to The Royal Household and have been regularly supplying Buckingham Palace ever since. For seven of the past eight years, Universal Lighting Services Ltd has supplied lighting products to The Royal Household, Buckingham Palace. Universal Lighting Services were granted The Royal Warrant, 1st January 2009.
Where We Are
We are based at Birkenhead, on the Wirral peninsula, near Liverpool, Merseyside, UK. We operate from purpose built showrooms, with offices and large warehouse storage facility in Priory Street, Birkenhead, situated next to Birkenhead Priory, a 12th century priory open to the public.
