LED Light Bulb Guide

LED bulbs consume a fraction of the power of a standard bulb making them perfect for applications where lights are left on permanently or for long periods.
With ultra-low energy consumption, high quality light output and a lifetime up to 50 times greater than traditional halogen lamps, LED light bulbs are the future. With LED lamps available that are comparable to traditional halogen bulbs, there has never been a better time to switch to LED lamps. Fit LED replacement lamps and save up to 90% on energy consumption and save money too.
LED Light Bulb Comparison – LED - GU10
Look for long-life LED light bulbs with a lifetime of 30 - 50,000 hours. Although LED light bulbs may seem expensive, they last 50 times as long as regular halogen bulbs. Once the cost of replacing halogen bulbs is taken into account, LED bulbs really are the ultimate energy saving bulb.
LED light bulbs have evolved over time and have now worked their way into the home due to their benefits in terms of light quality, versatility and cost savings. Further advancing from the traditional modern led light bulbs is that of the led GU10 bulb.
The GU10 LED light bulb is made up of 3 x 1.3W Light Emitting Diodes (LED’s); each LED is grouped into a single bulb through precisely placing each LED to generate an exceptional level of lighting.
The overall benefits include:
Hugely versatile to meet the needs of any room within the home.
Fantastic level of light. No longer a compromise from traditional light bulbs.
LED GU10 bulbs can be purchased in the lighting level you require.
Easily installed into any traditional GU10 fitting within the home.
LED GU10 bulbs last over ten times longer than conventional bulbs meaning significant savings.
Savings of around £4-£6 per annum can be achieved for each bulb installed.
Over the lifetime of the bulb you can expect to save in the region of £240, for each set of six GU10's.

Energy Saving CFL Lamps
So, what are the advantages of simply fitting an energy saving lamp in place of a traditional incandescent filament lamp? Energy saving lamps start to save you money as soon as they are fitted. They run cooler, they look the same and last a lot longer.
Here is a comparison chart showing the equivalent energy saving lamp wattages.
18W Low energy lamp = 100W normal light bulb
15W Low energy lamp = 75W normal light bulb
11W Low energy lamp = 60W normal light bulb
09W Low energy lamp = 40W+ normal light bulb
07W Low energy lamp = 40W normal light bulb
05W Low energy lamp = 25W normal light bulb
Here is an example of an annual saving by simply changing one 100W lamp for an 18W energy saving lamp. This example assumes 3hrs a day usage.

Saving per year = £ 6.80 per 100W lamp.
The average lifespan of an energy saving lamp, assuming 3hrs per day usage, is 10 years in a domestic setting.
The potential savings are therefore: £6.80 x 10 = £68.00
The energy saving trust state: “Fit all the lights in your house with energy saving bulbs and you could save £675 over the lifetime of all of the bulbs.” In the UK alone it has been estimated that using energy saving lamps will reduce the amount of carbon dioxide released into the atmosphere by 2.3 million tonnes a year. If the whole of the EU switched to energy saving lamps, that would represent a reduction of 30 million tonnes a year.
